Well..I am sick
others have a cold or some crazy virus. I feel achy and stuffy and a
really bad throat. I have youth group tonight and am excited to see
the kids and share with them but man I am wiped out. I hope you all
stay healthy in the February month of cold and colds. God bless you!

The more it stays the same, the more it changes
many times I want things to stay the same but nothing in this life
does stay the same. We are always changing, and the world around us
is always changing. It made me think of the artist, Andy Goldworthy
who does amazing pieces. His whole idea is to embrace the temporary.
To realize that it is totally fine that things change and can even be
beautiful.

Vacation at Home
on some big trip, even heading out to New York City. As Cristi and I
talked about it we decided to not go any where. We decided to
vacation at home. It has been a great week! some relaxing on
Monday, cleaning the house on Tuesday, going out of town on
Wednesday, cleaning the basement on thursday and just being with the
family on friday. now this might not seems as exciting as NYC, but
it was so relaxing. Also I had some great time with my wife and
boys. I think these kind of vacations will happen more often in the
future. i will be back at it all this Sunday but have realized, i
need to build in more time with my family than I have. Anyway,
vacation has been simple and good.
God bless you

Fwd: Fire
Yesterday I got a call from a friend of mine. He told me to bring some marshmallows because his business was burning down. CRAZY! I went over to spend some time with him and watch the spectacle. Five fire trucks, police cars burning strip-mall, if it wasn't my friends business it would have been a pretty cool thing to watch. There was water running into every drain, tons of firemen everywhere and then there were the spectators. People just kind of seemed in a trance. Staring, talking in quiet voices, a few crying, some laughing a little jokes they had with each other. Then they started tearing down the building. This all happened in about half an hour.
The fire had started the night before and the firefighters thought they had put it out. However, it was still slowly burning between the roof and the ceiling. by 2:00 p.m. the next day it erupted all over the roof, Sending spurts of flame up all over the building. Everyone thought that the fire was over, that the burning had finished. In reality it had just gone out of sight. As I thought about this, and talked with my friend, and thought and watched, and thought, i realized this is our life. we might feel like our fire has gone out. that there is nothing left of the passion for life, God, family, friends, but it just is slowly burning below the surface waiting for that moment to burst out and take over again. Boy, I should have brought those marshmallows, they would have been great!
God bless you,
Pastor Nathan
